Yoga

The Yoga I teach has been influenced by many traditions, Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga Yoga and Kundalini in particular. Yoga concentrates on body awareness, breathing and stretching. My classes are flowing and dynamic with the poses linked through the breath. Throughout the class the focus is on wellness and mindfulness, always moving at your own pace.

I am a Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher, having trained with Teresa Murphy Moore from Yoga Sacred Space in Wicklow. My yoga training is ongoing as I regularly attend workshops with internationally renowned teachers, such as; Jason Crandell, Patrick Freyn, Dylan Werner, Veronica Larsson, Lauren Eckstrom, Jai Karta and attend International and Irish Yoga Festivals whenever I can.

The benefits of practicing yoga are both physical and psychological. Toning the body, making it flexible and strong while calming the mind and improving breathing. Yoga is a wonderful way to reduce stress in your life by calming the mind, leading to benefits in sleep and anxiety. Every year I always have a small and dedicated group of Leaving Cert students who realise the benefit of learning to manage their stress throughout the year of their Leaving Cert.

Slow and Mindful Beginners:

This class is slow and mindful. All poses are accessible, as modifications are available for all levels of strength and flexibility. This is a wonderful way to slowly introduce yourself to yoga and its benefits or for those looking to slow down and develop their practice.

Yoga Mixed Level:

This class is accessible to all levels of strength and flexibility as modifications are available for all poses. Expect to build strength and flexibility, focusing on breath and body to cultivate calm. Some knowledge of Yoga is preferable however, as this class has more pace than the Slow and Mindful Beginners Class.

Yoga Mixed Level/Strong:

A dynamic flow class with an emphasis on building strength, flexibility, stamina and balance.

Pilates Fusion:

This is a class designed to build functional strength, improve mobility, increase cardiovascular health and fitness, strengthen the core muscles, and boost your metabolism and circulation. We will do a variety of exercises, including vertical jumps, squats, crawling forward and back, crawling sideways, holding crawl, running in place, sit ups, push ups, pulsing squats and lots more.

This class is designed as a combination of HIIT, functional movements, Pilates and deep stretching. This class is designed to be suitable for all as I will be showing Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced variations of each of the exercises and you take as many breaks as you like throughout the class.

Pilates

I am a qualified Pilates teacher having studied with Susan Church of Pilates Teacher Training Ireland. Pilates is a form of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates designed to strengthen the body core, that is the abdominal and spinal areas.

Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the entire body. The Pilates I teach puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core and improving coordination and balance.

Joseph Pilates often referred to his method as “the thinking man’s exercise” due to the improvement in memory and other cognitive functions that results from doing it. A clear mind also reduces stress levels, which translates to an improvement in your overall health. Pilates provides an effective workout with minimal impact on the joints.

Children's Yoga

I also teach yoga to children in schools/play schools in the North East area. I am a qualified Rainbow Children’s Yoga Teacher and have studied with the Elbow Room in Dublin RCYT (Registered Childrens Yoga Teacher) 100 hours Childrens Yoga Qualification. Click the button at the top of this page to go to the Children’s Yoga Page.

Yoga is such a gift in my life and teaching yoga to both adults and children is a very exciting and fulfilling step on my own yoga path. I took my first yoga class as a teenager in Galway and have dipped in and out of yoga ever since, in the US, India, Norway and Ireland, practicing during each of my pregnancies and afterwards. My commitment to my own yoga journey has deepened as I have gotten older and developing a regular practice and training as a teacher are dreams I have had since taking my first ever class.

Please come along - you are welcome to try a class at any stage during the term. No commitment or obligation, just come to experience the benefits directly yourself. Feel free to contact me at any time.
