We all know that yoga is good for you, even those who are not quite sure what it involves! Yoga has so much to offer children but most importantly for them it is fun. Yoga is a complete form of exercise which develops stamina, strength and flexibility. Yoga will stimulate their imagination and teach them how to breathe correctly.
Many children often feel pressure at school socially as well as academically. In addition to the pressure of competitive sports, it is easy for girls and boys to become self-critical and lose confidence in themselves as they grow and change. It is common for our children nowadays to spend a lot of time watching television or playing computer games (my own children can work my iPhone better than me!)
They are often driven to and from school, spending a lot of time sitting at their desks. In general, children have become far less physically active than years ago.
Our children’s yoga program will explore yoga through exciting adventure stories, group and partner poses, lots of games with uplifting music and creative relaxation techniques.
Over the past 3 years we have taught over 2,000 children yoga in the North East, with over 560 children participating in our after school yoga programs. We have taught yoga to Beavers and Cubs and we have been part of the Be Active Programme in a number of schools.
We teach 6 week terms of yoga both within schools as part of the curriculum and after school. We have taught yoga classes independently of schools in the Philipstown Community Centre. This is not a regular ongoing class, but rather a class we teach a number of times a year for 6 week blocks. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more details or get in touch and we can let you know when we are next teaching a block of classes.
Check out our calendar or Facebook to see when the next term of Childrens Yoga is on. Please get in touch if you are interested, via text, email or Facebook.
